Don't Dream It - See It (1978)
The complete version of Zip's fourth punk film, the source of many of the clips used in the above programmes. With punks on the King's Road and Portobello Road, Rat posing in a shop window, the Dispozest in Downing Street, and dramatic irony from punkettes at Zip's bedsit.
PM052. 1978. Music added in 2012: "One Drop" by PIL, "Yin & Yan" by Jah Wobble and Keith Levene and "Poptones" by PIL.

Uncut 8mm Punk films on "The Home Movie Roadshow" (silent)
Просмотров 16 тыс.13 лет назад
A repeat version of my films' appearance in episode 5 of BBC2's "The Home Movie Roadshow", this time without my interview and therefore much more of the films themselves. Sadly this clip is silent because WMG music blocked for its original Buzzcocks soundtrack. How very punk of WMG. Special thanks to Tom Lowe for his excellent digital copy of the clip.

"Death Is Their Destiny" (1978, 8mm) - part 1
Просмотров 121 тыс.14 лет назад
"Death Is Their Destiny" is the first of eight punk films I shot on the King's Road between 1978 and 1981. Originally shot silent, the film was striped and had music and a voice-over added in the mid-1980s. Some of my punk footage also included in the Julien Temple film "Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten."

"London 1997" - part 3: After Diana
i was in high school from 86-90 and always get sad that i never had a video camera and didnt document any of me and my friends. and i always wanted one back then, i was aware that i was young once and wanted to preserve memories. but in my mind back then you had to be a millionaire to afford this stuff. im sure i was probably way off on that assessment but i was super poor white trash in the bible belt of America and did not even know where one would get such equipment.
Wobble ...a Harrow legend Portobello Road Saturday mornings..Kings Road for Lunch time....Beaufort Market..Ken Market 78 onwards....saw many great bands...Damned ,Clash, Generation x, SATD, The Ruts....the last of the punk bands...got ugly after 1980 Martin Harrow Punks
I think a punk attitude to life is extremely healthy. Just fuck everything!

Who is doing that Version of Young Ones?
I was all over by 1978......they just whored themselves around for a turist to take a picture.....it all ended when 1976 ended
Myth buster for younger viewers. While a gentleman with a short MoHaWk appears briefly here, this clearly demonstrates the hairstyle in its most elaborate form was actually more an 80s product. From what have seen there had been a short MoHaWk trend on the rise during late 70s, but it more closely resembled the iconic hair-piece sported by Robert De Niro
5:55 - documentary contradicts itself. If by the 80s PuNk street photography reached high inflation, it's because the genre could not possibly have died out. This time also was more indicative of the higher commercialised PuNk image synonymous with the MoHaWk.
Could make a Hundred Quid a day on Oxford Street ...It was a good life .
Ooooh I'm 60 now and still street punk
Punk never went anywhere. Strong as ever.
Like someone with your Subscriptions has anything to do with Punk ?
@@layditms2 Perhaps Colbert, Corden, Meyers and Kimmel are all about to become Punks and we don't know about it.
I like perversion in plastic! 👍😜 ... But I don't like the police! 👎😠
This was wonderful. I was a Miami punk (there were maybe 3 of us at the time? 🤣😂) but this is so nostalgic for me. Thank you! ❤️

Punk was pretty much fading away by 1979. The last time I went down the Kings Rd was in 1979, there werent so many people there. I was with a few friends. We went into Boy and I remember buying a T Shirt. The whole atmosphere felt very flat. It was a Sunday though.
Yup just like st marks
Punk died on new years eve 1976...when it turned into 1977 it was done
@Pete Testube What did I do in 77?...played football with my friends after school being 10-11 at the time...what is your point? What I hate about 1977 is all those completely shitty bands who just jumped on the band wagon because it was fashionable...the Drones, the this , the that....horrible bands who tried to make a career...fortunately it didn't happen for those clowns who knew one and a half chord between them...name me one single great punk band from UK who didn't start in 1976? and I don't mean "ok to pogo to" but "great"?....and you can't mention Clash, Damned, Pistols or the Buzzcocks....not much left:-)
I used to go down there in the late 70s, keep looking to see if I can see myself in these films.
When there's no booze or speed, etc, to be found, sniff the pants. They didn't use Pritstick.
Sorry we lost contact zip, hope your ok,and for filming all us punks,so people in the future can see.thankyou debs xx@stay safe
IM ANARCHIST ANARCHY FOREVER AND EVER

@TTFPouyi yes
Punk exploded in many great directions like 2Tone, Psychobilly, Gothic, Hardcore, Industrial, etc, so, maybe the one chord Wonders aren't that relevant nowadays but the cultural Impact on Music, Fashion, Movies and Literature is strong.Thats why I still have a Punk Attitude.
A terrific mini doc that sadly doesn't provide the damn songs used that in turn drive the viewers crazy in the comments section. The song that starts @ 1:31 - 2:40 & 3:05-3:50 is "The Young Ones" By SPYS. I must've replayed these parts for months just to hear the song. & now after much detective work, its here for everyone who's suffered without it. ENJOY!!! ruclips.net/video/bCImsCqibAA/видео.html
Thank you I was looking everywhere!!!
Somethin uniquely British. CBGBs: am I a joke to you???!!!!???
1978 rockabilly rebels just waiting to come along nothing to do with punk , just saying
Any one know what happen to Ann wobble
Meant anti fashion
Started as an ant fashion and became a fashion then the muppets ruined they did not dress good like the sex pistols are were not articulate like johnny rotten
Im a big sex pistols collector 250 items in my collection met glen and John seen pistols 6 times on reunion tours it all became a stereotype at the end joe public is a thick moron who does not understand its like a stereotype of not getting good grades and yet articulate people don't allways do well at school and even some bright people find easy to learn themselves it's all what rebellion is it's not a society that cares about anyone really.
I was still in my dads ball bags in 1978
It's weird to call punk "uniquely British" when it started in New York City. British punk was definitely uniquely British.
I'd argue it started with the Stooges in Ann Arbor -Ramones were massive fans.
And now, we're all boardering on the edge of becoming pensioners.... Bloody hell, time passed FAR TOO QUICKLY... 🤬
I doubt all Punks have that straight line life
I like how Phil is still in touch w the kids in the home movie. I m still in touch with my punk friends after 30 plus years. That’s punk!
Absolutely brilliant footage. Thank you so so much for sharing these.
